The Standards


The 2010 Standards
The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design

For Title II, the 2010 Standards = the 2004 ADA/ABA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities plus 28 CFR 35.151.

For Title III, the 2010 Standards = the 2004 ADA/ABA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities plus 28 CFR Part 36, Subpart D.

The 2010 Standards may be used instead of the 1991 Standards
until March 14, 2012.

From March 15, 2012 onward, these are THE Standards.
28 CFR 35.151
A component of the 2010 Standards for Title II,
28 CFR 35.151 is the New Construction and Alterations portion of Title II.
28 CFR Part 36, Subpart D
A component of the 2010 Standards for Title III,
Subpart D is the New Construction and Alterations portion of Title III.
36 CFR Part 1191, Appendices B and C
The 2004 ADA/ABA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities
the basis of the scoping and technical requirements of the 2010 Standards.
The 1991 Standards
The ADA Standards for Accessible Design
28 CFR Part 36, Appendix A,
may be used until March 14, 2012.
